New Delhi: An Air India flight has reportedly entered Pakistani airspace by mistake. The flight, which was flying from Delhi to Amritsar in Punjab, violated the international border on June 22.
As soon as the pilot entered the Pakistani border, he realized the situation and turned the plane around and crossed into the Indian border. Due to security reasons, the plane was diverted to Delhi and landed instead of landing in Amritsar.
Air India said in a statement that the minor lapse occurred during a routine 'go-around' process and that the DGCA has been informed. The information available indicates that there was no threat to passenger safety in the incident.
Air India said it has initiated an internal investigation into the incident. The airline said it has informed the relevant agencies and is conducting an internal investigation into the matter. The company added that the safety of passengers and crew members is always its top priority.
