India has officially reintroduced a mandatory online health declaration system

India Reintroduces Air Suvidha Portal Amid Global Ebola Warning
India has officially reintroduced its mandatory health declaration system via the upgraded Air Suvidha 2.0 Portal for international arrivals to mitigate entry risks following a global Ebola spike. Jointly launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the platform transitions entry-point screenings into a fully contactless, digital framework.
The policy shift directly responds to the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). High-risk boundary zones now extend to neighbouring nations, including South Sudan.
This measure follows the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The digital system replaces previous paper-based entry logs to avoid administrative delays while securing points of entry.
Key Requirements for Travellers
  • Mandatory Submission: Every international passenger flying into India must submit the Self-Declaration Form (SDF) online.
  • Timeframe: The form must be completed within 24 hours before departure or during the flight web check-in process.
  • Data Collected: Travellers must provide an accurate 21-day travel history, known exposure data, and report any current symptoms (e.g., fever, bleeding, or body aches).
  • Arrival Process: Passengers must download and keep the digital or printed SDF acknowledgement ready to display at the International Travel Health Desk or Immigration counter upon landing.
System Benefits & Implementation
  • Contactless Screening: Eliminates physical paperwork on arrival, ensuring a contactless, seamless airport experience.
  • Real-Time Surveillance: Data integrates directly with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airport Health Officers, and the Bureau of Immigration for immediate contact tracing if high-risk passengers are detected
