SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a major reshuffle in the police department, transferring 100 senior officers and assigning them new responsibilities. The order, issued on October 9, covers 28 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 72 Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officers.
New police chiefs have been appointed in Ganderbal, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ramban and Poonch districts, as well as in the police districts of Sopore, Handwara and Awantipora.
Danesh Rana has been appointed Managing Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Housing Corporation. Garib Dass has been posted as Additional Director General of Home Guards, Civil Defence and the State Disaster Response Force. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal will take over as Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy in Udhampur.
Abdul Jabbar has been appointed Inspector General of Armed Police, Jammu, while Shahid Mehraj Rather will head Technical Services as Inspector General. Swarn Singh Kotwal has been posted as Deputy Inspector General of the Udhampur-Reasi Range.
The reshuffle also includes changes in the Railway Police, security units and other police formations across the Union Territory.
