Security checks and surveillance have been strengthened at key locations and along the city’s borders. Authorities have also introduced traffic restrictions to manage possible crowd movements. Reports say entry and exit have been restricted at 45 Delhi Metro stations, while mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in certain areas.
Police cited concerns over public safety, law and order, traffic management and compliance with protest procedures in refusing permission. Authorities also pointed to concerns over compliance with police directions during earlier demonstrations. CJP leaders, however, have questioned the decision and argued that citizens have a constitutional right to peaceful protest.
The heightened security measures could affect travel and daily activities in parts of the capital. Commuters have been advised to check the latest Delhi Metro service updates and traffic advisories before travelling.
