TEHRAN — Iran has described the United States’ latest response to its proposal for ending the conflict as insufficient, signalling that a diplomatic breakthrough remains uncertain. Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei made the remarks as efforts to reach an agreement continued to face obstacles.
The US response followed a revised proposal from Iran. The two sides have yet to reach an agreement to end hostilities, leaving the future of negotiations unclear.
Rezaei also warned that regional digital infrastructure could face attacks if hostilities resume, according to reports. There has been no independent confirmation that such attacks are planned or would take place.
The continuing diplomatic uncertainty has raised concerns about security across the Middle East and the potential impact on regional energy supplies. Further progress will depend on whether Washington and Tehran can narrow their differences and return to substantive negotiations.
