RIYADH — Oil prices climbed on Friday after Yemen’s Houthi group claimed attacks on key Saudi oil facilities, raising fresh concerns about energy supplies from the Middle East.
The reported targets included the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries and an Aramco facility in Abqaiq. A Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted a cruise missile launched towards the kingdom.
Brent crude rose 0.75% to $115.74 a barrel in early trading, while US West Texas Intermediate also recorded a gain.
The developments have added to concerns over shipping security around the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global oil supplies. Higher crude prices could increase import costs for countries such as India.
The rise comes amid continuing uncertainty over regional security and efforts to revive diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran.
