EU rules tighten travel rules for those who have not fully taken the Covid vaccination. A good number of people are still not fully vaccinated. The EU's new rules are likely to complicate their international travels.
The condition is that, "DCC term expires on February 1". the booster dose must be taken within nine months of taking the second dose of vaccine to get rid of the covid. Young people are more likely to miss the booster dose. People between the ages of 18 and 49 are lagging behind in the booster. Those who received a second dose of the vaccine before May last year and continued without a booster will find this problem even more stressful.
With the exception of some EU, most people receive only one dose of the vaccine. Indications are that the journeys of such people will be in crisis. Digital Covid Certificates expire on February 1st. Those who do not take booster doses after that will have a harder time traveling. However, travel is still possible for those with proof of release from Covid or a pre-departure PCR test certificate.
Paul Hackett, president of the Travel Agents Association, said he did not think this would have any impact on international travel. Hackett said there is currently no limit to the validity of the digital Covid certificate following booster vaccination. He also points out that once the booster dose is taken, the vaccine certificate will be active and valid again. In short, there is a risk of trips being missed if the booster dose is not taken.
