This Situation Will Continue For Years, Not Months. Omicron Plus Variant Is Up; Tánaiste LEO VARADKAR Says A New Group is "Imminent" To Replace NPHE

This situation will continue for years, not months. Omicron Plus variant is up. Ireland is one of the few countries that has "brutally" deregulated, and as a result is now seeing an increase in Kovid-19 cases, the World Health Organization said.

Hans Kluge, director of the WHO Europe, commented that the Department of Health had reported 23,702 new cases. Covid is now growing in 18 of the WHO's 53 European countries, due to its high BA.2 variant.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Ireland today is 21,789. 7,729 PCR-confirmed Kovid-19 cases were reported. In addition, on Tuesday, March 22, 14,060 people registered for the positive antigen test through the HSE portal. As of 8 a.m. today, 1,395 COVID-19 patients had been hospitalized, 55 of whom were in the ICU.

Tánaiste LEO VARADKAR says a new group is "imminent" to replace NPHET. “We need to monitor the situation. We certainly do not want to end up in a situation where restrictions have to be re-imposed. This virus is not going to go away. "We'll have more waves of this in the next two months and the next two years," he said. We do not want to turn the controls on or off. We need to live with this virus. ”

“So it is not surprising that we see an increase in infections. "There will be recurring waves and spikes in infections and the government does not want to re-impose restrictions to deal with the problem," he said. “But as things stand, we are facing a second wave of Omicron. It is driven by the Omicron Chron variant, which is more contagious than the original Omicron  and has been in waves for the past few weeks due to less restrictions and more people getting involved.

Varadkar said the government should seek any new advice on how to handle the latest increase in cases from the public health adviser. Varadkar, who spoke today, did not elaborate on questions about a new public health advisory board to replace the NPHET, but I understand that this is imminent, Tánaiste said.
