India and Nepal have always had strong friendships and intimacy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he would serve all human beings "amidst the global conditions of the kind that are emerging today." Modi, who arrived in the Himalayan nation at the invitation of Nepal's Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Dube for a one - day visit to Lumbini on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, said relations between the two countries were "as stable as the Himalayas".
Addressing a Buddhist conference in Lumbini, Modi said that the Buddha was the embodiment of the collective understanding of humanity.
“The growing and strengthening friendship between India and Nepal will work for the benefit of all mankind in the face of the global conditions that are emerging today. Devotion to Lord Buddha binds us together and makes us members of a family, ”Modi said. Modi said that the energy of the place where Lord Buddha was born gives a different feeling. I was glad to see that the Mahabodhi sapling I donated to this place in 2014 is now growing into a tree, ”he added. Modi was accompanied by Duba and his wife Arsu Rana Duba at the 2566th Buddha Jayanti celebrations at the International Convention Center and Meditation Hall in Lumbini. Many Nepalese ministers and other dignitaries were present.
