UK: Sathi Venugopal (63), a NHS staff nurse from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, who has been unwell following her falling ill with cancer, passed away.
Sathi is a native of Chengannur. She passed away 18th May) at the Castle Hill Hospital in Hull, a state of the art facility that is primarily for cancer patients. Sathi was diagnosed with cancer only around six months back and has been undergoing treatment. Reports say that Sathi was diagnosed with cancer six months ago and was responding to treatment very positively and was preparing to return to work on the advice of doctors when her condition deteriorated and she succumbed.
She is survived by her husband Venugopal and her son Vipin Kumar, his wife Parvathy Vipin and grandson Avtish. The couple had another son Vishal who passed away some years back. Sathi’s husband Venugopal was in Kerala at the time of her death. The news of his death came to him when he was preparing to leave for the UK after learning that his wife’s condition had worsened. Son Vipin is a nursing student at the University of Nottingham.
Reports say that preparations are underway to take the body back home. Gainsborough Malayalee community are with the family and providing all support they can at such a difficult time.
