China announces new incentives to boost birth rate

China has changed its population control policy. China has come out with benefits and announcements to encourage families to have more children as the population rate began to record a record decrease. Experts have warned that if the current situation continues, China's population rate will begin to decline dramatically by 2025.

China is the most populous country in the world. However, a good portion of the population here has also started to age. But because of strict population control policies, the aging population is disproportionately young. Therefore, employment sectors and the economy are being disrupted. In short, China is facing a major demographic crisis.

In 2016, China ended its 'one-child policy' and last year announced that it could have up to three children. However, the birth rate has decreased in the last five years.

China's National Health Commission has released new guidelines for the federal and state governments to spend more money on reproductive health and enhance child care facilities nationally. In order to encourage families to have children, local governments have been asked to adopt certain actions. Subsidies, tax breaks, better health insurance, better education, better housing, and more are among the government's promises.

Provincial governments have also been asked to ensure nursery facilities for children between the ages of two and three. The government aims to activate childcare schemes by the end of the year.

Tax incentives, housing loans, and educational perks are among the incentives for women in Chinese cities. According to the new order, the provinces should also receive these benefits.

China's birth rate dropped to 7.52 per 1,000 inhabitants last year. Since 1949, when Communist China was founded, this rate has been at its lowest level.

According to others, the drop in birthrates was caused by the high expense of living and cultural shift brought about by the rise of smaller families. Health officials issued a warning earlier this month that by 2025, China's population would start to fall.

According to predictions, India will surpass China as the world's most populous nation in 2023. By 2035, the United Nations estimates that 675 million Indians will reside in urban areas due to the country's fast urbanisation. As a result of this urban-focused population expansion, cities will experience extensive infrastructure development, including the construction of brand-new residences, workplaces, and commercial buildings. Additionally, there will be a significant rise in power consumption. Since coal accounts for 70% of India's total energy consumption, if the current trend continues, there will be a significant increase in the consumption of fossil fuels. Additionally, it will boost greenhouse gas emissions, which speed up climate change.
