A man has been charged with the murder of three siblings in Dublin.
Lisa Cash, 18, and her eight-year-old twin siblings Christy and Chelsea Cawley died in an incident at their home in Tallaght early on Sunday.
Andrew Cash, 24, of Rossfield Avenue, Tallaght appeared at a special sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on Monday evening charged with their murder.
The man was questioned over the past two days and this evening Andy Cash (24), of Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght, appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court.
He is accused of killing his sister, two sisters, and brother on September 4 at their residence.
Tallaght garda Robert Whitty provided evidence of an arrest, a charge, and a caution.
He claimed that the accused was taken into custody today evening at 7:43 p.m. in order to charge him.
Gda Whitty said that he arrested the suspect at 7:51 p.m. in Sgt. Anthony Moran's presence.
The charges were presented to Mr. Cash, who reportedly responded, "no comment," to each one.
Additionally, the client's defence attorney asked for solitary detention and a psychological evaluation.
Judge Patricia McNamara stated that the jail governor should handle this situation but added that it would be noted.
The court also approved a request for free legal representation after learning there was no Garda objection.
The defendant did not address the court while and simply bowed to acknowledge his name when it was announced. He was dressed in a grey tracksuit top, navy trousers, and runners.
Additionally, when the judge requested it at the beginning of the session, he stood up.
Judge Patricia McNamara remanded him in custody until next Friday.
Judge McNamara remanded the prisoner in custody after his appearance since only the High Court can issue bail in cases involving murder charges.
The brief hearing was held in court with a sizable garda presence, both in uniform and in plain clothes.
On Friday, September 9, at 10 a.m. via video link, Mr. Cash will appear in Cloverhill District Court.
The siblings' mother, a woman in her 40s who wasn't in the house at the time of the event on Sunday, was also taken to the hospital. Since being released, she is receiving support from her family.
The gardai previously said they had set up an incident room and that "all the circumstances of this occurrence are being probed under the leadership of a Senior Investigating Officer."
The location in Rossfield Estate is still cordoned off, and the Garda Technical Bureau is still conducting forensic investigations there.
A spokesman added that the incident was “responded to by uniform unarmed Garda first responders from Tallaght District, supported by uniform members and armed detectives from the wider DMR South Division and Specialist Armed Support Unit members.
“An Garda SÃochána has put in place welfare supports for, and will continue to support, all members who attended this incident”.
A large amount of floral tributes and posters have been left at the scene by family, friends, and loved ones of the three deceased.
