Srinagar: Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday, police said.
Security forces launched a search operation in Poshkriri area of Anantnag district following information about the presence of terrorists, police officials said. He said the search turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire on the security forces who retaliated.
Two terrorists were killed in the encounter, officials said, both belonging to the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
The terrorists, identified as Danish Bhatt @ Kokab Duri and Basharat Nabi, who were associated with banned terror outfit HM, were killed. Both were involved in the killing of soldier Salim on 9 April 2021 and the killing of two civilians in Jablipora on 29 May 2021. Kashmir Zone DGP Vijay Kumar tweeted.
