Former skipper Virat Kohli's brilliant performance of 82 runs off 53 balls gave India a thrilling victory. Hardik Panda (40 runs off 37 balls) and Virat Kohli lifted India, which was 4 wickets for 34 runs at one stage. Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah took two wickets for Pakistan.
Pakistan, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 159 runs for eight in the allotted 20 overs. Shan Masood, who scored 52 runs without getting out, and Iftikhar Rahman, who scored 51 runs, appeared in the Pakistan line-up. Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya took three wickets each for India.
Batting first, Pakistan got off to a poor start after losing the toss. Captain Babar Azam was dismissed for a golden duck on the very first ball he faced. Another key player Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for just four runs. Both were returned by Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep caught Babar in front of the wicket and was caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Arshdeep, who bowled the second over, trapped Babar in front of the wicket on the very first ball. As it was plumb lb, the umpire raised his hand and called out. But the Pakistan captain took DRS without making a comeback. After the third umpire announced that he was out in the replay, Babar returned to the pavilion.
Arshdeep also returned Rizwan on the last ball of the fourth over of the innings. Rizwan tried to hook the bouncer and ended up in the hands of Bhuvi at deep fine leg. On the next ball, Virat Kohli dived and escaped the catch, but Rizwan could not stay at the crease for long.
Later, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood, who came together at the crease, led Pakistan to a better score.
