IRELAND: Cost of living crisis in Ireland: Exact dates for once off extra payments this month

Thousands of people living in Ireland are in store for a nice cash boost this month, with several once-off payments on the cards which were announced in Budget 2023 to help ease the cost of living crisis.

These welcome payments will come in the form of the Living Alone Increase, Fuel Allowance, Working Family Payment, Disability Allowance, Invalidity Pension, Blind Pension, and the Carer's Support Grant. Last week, thousands of households were delighted to receive the promised double child benefit payment on November 1.

Now there's still plenty of other payments on the way which are sure to greatly benefit many people heading into the upcoming Christmas season. Here's the exact dates of the remaining once off extra social welfare payments for November 2022.

Increase for Living Alone: €200 per week beginning November 14

For those receiving social welfare income and living alone, there is a Living Alone Increase. People receiving the Living Alone Increase will get a one-time payment of €200 commencing the week of November 14, 2022, according to the Budget 2023 announcement.

You must live totally on your own in order to qualify for this reimbursement. However, there are some exceptions for people living in a granny flat or other addition to a relative's house, and you can qualify for the increase provided you can demonstrate that you have the means to prepare and consume meals on your own in addition to your own living/dining and sleeping quarters.

Fuel Subsidy: 400 Euros per week beginning November 14

The week beginning November 14 marks the deadline for recipients of the Fuel Allowance payment to receive a one-time payment of €400. In January 2023, individuals aged 70 and older will be eligible for Fuel Allowance if their weekly means (which includes their State Pension) do not exceed €500 for a single individual and €1,000 for a pair.

In January 2023, the weekly permissible means for individuals under the age of 70 will rise from €120 to €200, an increase of €80, over the relevant State Pension (Contributory) rate. In the meanwhile, beginning in January 2023, the means test for Fuel Allowance will ignore Disability Benefit and half-rate Carer's Allowance.

Family Working Payment: 500 euros per week beginning November 14

The week beginning November 14 marks the deadline for recipients of the Working Family Payment (WFP) to receive a one-time payment of €500. The Working Family Benefit, a weekly tax-free payment for workers with children, supports people who make modest wages in particular.

You must have at least one child who ordinarily resides with you or whom you support financially in order to qualify for the Working Family Payment. For you to get this payment, your child must be younger than 18 (or between 18 and 22 if they are enrolled in full-time day school).

Disability Allowance: €500 week starting November 14

A one-time payment of €500 will be given to recipients of Disability Allowance from the week of November 14, 2022. Disability Allowance (DA) is a weekly payment made to those with disabilities, and it is available to those as young as 16 years old, even if they are enrolled in school.

The maximum Disability Allowance rate will increase by €12 starting in January 2023, with increases for those receiving reduced rates of payment. For instance, the weekly rate for a kid will climb to €42 for those under the age of 12, and to €50 for those over the age of 12. Additionally, beginning in January 2023, the Disability Allowance earnings cap will rise by €25, from €140 to €165.

Invalidity Pension: 500 euros per week beginning November 14

The week beginning November 14 will see a €500 one-time payment for those receiving the Invalidity Pension. People who are covered by social insurance, often known as PRSI, and are unable to work due to a long-term illness or disability receive an invalidity pension each week.

Blind Pension: starting on November 14, 500 euros per week.

People who qualify for the Blind Pension, a means-tested benefit made to blind and visually impaired residents of Ireland, will receive €500 the week beginning November 14. You must submit an eye exam from an opthalmologist proving your visual impairment in order to be eligible for the Pension.

Grant for Carers: 500 euros each week beginning November 21

It was stated in Budget 2023 that caregivers who are eligible for the Carer's Support Grant will receive a one-time payment of €500 the week beginning November 21, 2022. Even if you are providing care for multiple people, you will only receive a single payment of €500.
