Temperatures are set to drop this weekend as Met Éireann predicts a very cold snap next week with potential hail, sleet and snow showers.
The national forecaster said it will become noticeably colder from Wednesday onwards with a northerly airflow and with showers possibly turning more wintry at times.
This weekend average daytime temperatures will drop to as low as 5 degrees Celsius, with mostly dry conditions forecast for the coming days.
It will be largely dry and sunny on Friday, with a mix of cloudy and clear periods. The east and south coasts may get a few light showers, and the greatest temperature will be between 8 and 11.

The most of Friday night will be dry, with clear periods and a few emerging areas of mist or fog. The coldest temperatures will range from zero to five degrees.
On Saturday morning, there may be a few sunny spots, but the day will be generally cloudy with a chance of drizzle or light showers in the afternoon and evening. The range of 6 to 9 degrees will be the highest.
On Sunday, there will be some spells of sunshine, varying cloud cover, and a chance of a few showers, mainly towards the east.
The longest clear periods will be in the west as showers continue into the night. Low temperatures will range between zero and four degrees throughout this chilly night.
The majority of Monday will be gloomy, while the east and south may have lengthier rainstorms. According to Met Éireann, the best of any bright or sunny spells will be in the west with highs between 5 and 8 degrees.
