Kishoge train station between Clondalkin and Lucan, which has never been open since it was built 14 years ago, will be opened to the public this year. Kishoge railway station is a railway station in Ireland that is planned to serve the Kishoge (sometimes Kishogue) housing development in west County Dublin. It is located on the South Western Commuter route from Dublin Heuston as part of the Kildare Route Project. Construction of the station is largely complete, but it had not yet opened as of early 2023.
The station was initially built in 2009 for €6 million. It was the last of a series of new and upgraded stations to be built on the route to improve commuter services from the south-west of Dublin. Difficulties experienced at other stations now show that a commuter station environment is better suited.
An Irish Rail spokesman said: "Kishoge station is planned to open to the public in December 2023. Originally built as part of the Kildare Route project and completed in 2009, it was expected that a housing development would go ahead next to the station. Due to the financial crisis, this development is now coming to fruition, so the station is temporarily closed.
Extensive work is required to bring the station into service, meeting system requirements beyond today's accessibility and original requirements, associated with replacement, maintenance, wear and tear, vandalism, and other damage over time.
Kishoge station station between Clondalkin and Lucan was built in 2009 at a cost of €6 million and will undergo a redevelopment this year with plans to open in December. It was originally built as part of the Kildare Route project, but other station plans for the area were never built. Now those housing projects will be pushed forward, along with the railway station. The retrofit work, which will take place this year, will cost around €3.8 million.
