Abu Hafiz al-Hashimi al-Qureshi was announced as the new leader of the Islamic State. It is reported that Abu Husayni Al Qureshi was killed in a direct conflict with the Hayat Tahir Al Sham group in the northwestern province of Syria.
Through the Telegram app, the spokesman of the Islamic State released the information about the death of the leader and the information that the new leader took over. This was a recorded message. They did not specify when the death occurred.
In April, Turkish President Erdogan claimed that he had been killed in Syria. Abu Hafiz al-Hashimi al-Qureshi is the fifth person to become the leader of the Islamic State since its inception.
The previous four were killed. Abu Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qureshi was killed in November, Abu Ibrahim al-Qureshi in April 2022 and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in October 2019.
