New Delhi: India has taken tough action against Canada. India has stopped issuing visas to Canadian citizens. It has been suspended until further notice.
After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of involvement in the killing of Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Niger, the relationship between the two countries fell apart. Another Khalistan terrorist was killed in Canada today. After this, India has now come forward with drastic measures.
More information has come out regarding the murder of Khalistan terrorist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. It was revealed that Nijjar was granted Canadian citizenship after India issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) through Interpol to arrest him. The national media also reported that Canada has taken quick action on the citizenship application, which has not been decided for a long time.
If a country issues a red corner notice, the accused must be arrested or deported. However, officials point out that Canada has done the opposite. The first red corner notice was against Nijjar in 2014. It was later released in 2016. The Canadian minister had said on Tuesday that he was granted citizenship in 2015. When this became controversial, it was corrected that Nijjar got citizenship in 2007. Indian agencies are of the position that this is doubtful.
The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning to Canadian citizens arriving in India the other day. It was also advised not to go to areas including Kashmir, to travel to places like Manipur and Assam only if necessary, and to be extremely careful wherever you go in India.
Following this, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a warning to Indian students and citizens going to places associated with the Khalistan. After this, the visa services have also been stopped.
