Storm Elin will sweep across Ireland today. A severe weather warning has been issued for 22 counties today.
A status orange wind warning has been issued for three counties including Wicklow, Dublin and Donegal. A status orange wind warning came into force in Wicklow at 11am and will remain in effect until 5pm. Dublin will be under this warning from 12pm to 3pm today.
Met Eireann has warned that Cyclone Elin could cause overtopping waves in Donegal. Donegal will have a status yellow warning from midday until 8pm, which will be upgraded to status orange between 2pm and 6pm.
Clare, Tipperary and Connacht (Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo) will see strong winds with possible overtopping waves as the Status Yellow wind warning starts at 8am and lasts until 6pm.
A status yellow wind warning is currently in place for Cavan, Monaghan and Leinster (Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow) from 10am to 8pm.
Galway, Mayo and Sligo have been issued two status yellow warnings for Sunday as wind warnings are in place from 12pm to 6pm.
Another status yellow wind warning for Leitrim will be in effect from 5pm until 9pm on Sunday.
Storm Elin, sometimes accompanied by heavy rain, can cause severe travel disruption, debris and displacement of outdoor objects.
