The Koipuram police have registered a case against Gopalakrishnan Nair, Sindhu V Nair, Govind G Nair and Lakshmi, the owners of G&G Financiers, which operates as Telliyur base for financial fraud. 124 cases have been registered in various police stations of the district. The preliminary assessment is that more than 100 crores of fraud has been committed.
Institutional owners used to accept deposits by offering excessive interest of 14 percent for one year fixed deposit, 15 percent for two years and 16 percent for three years. The company had 48 branches in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. After learning that the accused had surrendered to the police, the investors reached the police station to demand their money back. They created a ruckus in front of the station.
Sindhu V Nair, the wife of Gopalakrishnan Nair, the second accused in the case, and Lakshmi Lekhakumar, the daughter-in-law of the fourth accused, are now to be arrested. According to reports, Lakshmi went to Bahrain two months ago. It is also indicated that the help of Interpol may be sought to arrest them.
