Kavarathi: Lakshadweep BJP president K. N. Kasmikoya held a meeting with Administrator Praful Khoda Patel on Saturday. In a discussion held in the administrator's secretariat chamber, the BJP president submitted a petition demanding urgent intervention in the dilapidated state of infrastructure in the northern islands.
In a congratulatory message, Mr. Kasmikoya appreciated the policy decision of the administrator to start the high speed ferry service connecting the Amini archipelago directly from the Kadamat Kilthayan islands to Mangalore port and mentioned that this is a historic step that has gone down in the Thanga chapters of the island's history.
In 1787, the traditional Paya Odas of Amini Island boycotted commercial engagements with the Kannur throne due to differences of opinion and unloaded goods at the port of Mangalore, and continued to be ruled under the Collectorate of Mangalore until 1956 when Lakshadweep became a Union Territory.
Abolish existing taxes on petrol and diesel fuels and introduce them in islands where there are no fuel outlets; Resume the construction of stalled roads and complete the land acquisition process by providing adequate compensation;
