No Mpox in India; Samples are negative, don't spread unnecessary panic, central advice to states to remain vigilant,

New Delhi: Ministry of Health has confirmed that there is no infection of Mpox in India. Central Health Secretary Apoorva Chandra informed that the tested samples were negative.

He also asked not to spread unnecessary panic in Mpox. The Central government has also directed the states and Union Territories to conduct screening and testing of those suspected with symptoms of pox. Infected persons should be isolated. It is also advised not to compromise in preparing the contact list to prevent the spread of disease.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is closely monitoring the situation. Senior officials at state and district levels should review public health preparedness.

Isolation facilities should be ensured in hospitals to deal with suspected and confirmed cases with sufficient importance. The center has also suggested to ensure that there are enough staff in such situations.
