Heavy rain likely in Kerala; Orange alert in four districts today; Yellow alert in other districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Orange alert has been announced in four districts in Kerala today. Orange alert is in place in Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. 

Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in various districts.

24/10/2024 : Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki

The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rains . Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.  Residents in areas prone to landslides, landslides and mountain floods have been advised to move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities.

It is raining heavily  in various places. The situation is no different in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Idukki. Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram districts are receiving widespread rain. 

 A water spout phenomenon occurred in Vizhinjam, Thiruvananthapuram. What is water spout phenomenon?

A waterspout is caused by a sudden pressure difference between the clouds. The sky darkens with clouds, and a fountain-like layer of lightning falls from between the clouds into the sea. With this, the sea will be agitated and a vortex will be formed. In different parts of the sea, the sea water rises and rises in the form of a funnel.
