Birmingham Airport has resumed operations following the discovery of a suspicious vehicle, an airport spokesman said.
West Midlands Police said the vehicle was found to be safe after an examination by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
In a statement, an airport spokesperson said, "Some passengers were evacuated and we had to suspend departing flights for two hours due to a police investigation". ,”
British police and Birmingham Airport earlier said the airport had canceled flights, evacuated some passengers and told passengers not to come after reports of a suspicious vehicle. In a post on X, West Midlands Police said they were dealing with a "site incident" which had affected airport operations.
According to local newspaper Birmingham Live, passengers were not allowed to disembark, drivers were removed from the site and all transport links to the airport were cancelled.
