Hamas' existence is in jeopardy; To leave the country : Qatar

Doha: The international news agencies AP and Reuters reported that Qatar, the mediator, is withdrawing from the Gaza ceasefire talks. However, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been leading mediation efforts since the start of the one-year-old war, has not commented on the matter.

Reuters reported that Qatar has informed both parties that Israel and Hamas, the parties to the war, cannot continue with the mediation unless they are willing to agree to an agreement. Since the start of Israel's attack on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Qatar has been active in facilitating a ceasefire and maintaining peace in the region.

The news agency reports that Qatar's withdrawal from the mediation status came after the last talks held in Doha two weeks ago in the mediation between the United States and Qatar did not reach their goals. Citing US and Qatari sources, the report said the US made the demand after Hamas leaders refused to accept a ceasefire and hostage release agreement despite months of efforts.

At the same time, CNN reported that a senior Hamas leader said that the report that Qatar accepted the demand of the United States to expel Hamas leaders is untrue. Hamas says Qatar has not asked its leaders to leave the country

"There is no evidence for that campaign. Qatar has not asked them to leave the country. This is pro-Israeli media propaganda. This is just a pressure tactic" - stated the Hamas leader.

CNN reported that American officials asked Qatar two weeks ago to stop harbouring Hamas leaders, which Qatar agreed to and gave notice to Hamas a week ago.
