Telugu superstar Allu Arjun appeared at the Chikkadapally police station in Hyderabad today for questioning in connection with a tragic stampede that occurred earlier this month during the screening of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident led to the death of a woman and left her son critically injured.
News agency ANI shared a video earlier showing the actor leaving his residence for the police station. In the footage, Allu Arjun is seen bidding farewell to his wife Sneha and playfully interacting with his daughter, Arha, before heading out.
The legal trouble for the actor stems from the events of December 4, when a crowd reportedly went out of control as Allu Arjun stepped out of his car to greet fans attending the premiere. Despite being advised by the police to leave the venue, the actor allegedly stayed on, resulting in chaos. A woman lost her life in the ensuing stampede, while her son sustained severe injuries and remains hospitalized.
Allu Arjun was initially arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with the case and was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. He was later granted interim bail for four weeks on a personal bond of ₹50,000. However, delays in processing paperwork led to the actor spending a night in jail.
The current round of questioning comes amid reports that the Hyderabad police plan to file a petition challenging the actor’s interim bail. According to police sources, Allu Arjun’s team was informed about the escalating situation at the screening, including the fatality, but allegedly failed to relay the information to the actor. Investigators are reportedly preparing to present video evidence in court to substantiate their claims.
The incident has sparked public outrage, with protestors gathering outside Allu Arjun’s residence on Sunday to demand justice. Demonstrators reportedly vandalized parts of the property, prompting heightened security measures around the actor’s home.
As the investigation continues, Allu Arjun faces mounting legal and public scrutiny over the unfortunate incident, which has cast a shadow on the highly anticipated release of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
