In a significant breakthrough, a joint operation by the Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police resulted in the elimination of three pro-Khalistani terrorists in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The individuals were wanted in connection with grenade attacks on police outposts in Punjab, including the recent incident in Gurdaspur.
Details of the Encounter
The slain terrorists, identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virender Singh alias Ravi, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh—residents of Gurdaspur—were linked to the Pakistan-backed Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), a terror outfit active in the region. Acting on intelligence inputs, police teams cordoned off the area under the jurisdiction of Puranpur police station in Pilibhit district.
When law enforcement personnel attempted to apprehend the suspects, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight. All three were neutralized during the retaliatory action. Two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and additional ammunition were recovered from the site.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the operation via social media, stating, “In a major breakthrough against a Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force terror module, a joint operation by UP and Punjab Police resulted in an encounter with three members who had fired on police personnel. This module was involved in grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab's border areas.”
He added that the injured suspects were rushed to the Community Health Center in Puranpur but succumbed to their injuries. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the terror network.
