During the search, police seized an INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazine, 47 spent cartridges, a bayonet, two Baofeng walkie-talkie sets, bulletproof helmets, cadre uniforms, two four-wheelers, one two-wheeler, and various incriminating documents and materials.
In a parallel operation, six suspected insurgent cadres were apprehended from Bijoypur Mamang Leikai and Makha Leikai in Kakching district. Authorities confiscated three mobile phones during the arrest, as per a Manipur Police officer.
In Imphal East district, police detained two suspected active cadres allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting civilians, private businesses, and government offices. Items recovered included two demand letters, 16 cash receipts for uniforms, three mobile phones, ₹2,200 in cash, two ID cards, and a Honda Activa scooter.
Further arrests took place in Imphal West, where three active cadres from another faction of the insurgent group were intercepted at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing. Police seized a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a .32 pistol with a magazine, 10 live rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, and a two-wheeler.
On Tuesday, another cadre was apprehended for extortion activities targeting shops and beauty parlors in the Tangkhul Avenue area under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West. A mobile handset was recovered from the individual, police confirmed.
These coordinated operations underscore the intensified efforts of security forces to dismantle insurgent networks and curb unlawful activities in the region.
