Housing and Urban Redevelopment Initiatives
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar. These homes are designed to provide improved living conditions for economically weaker sections, and PM Modi will personally hand over keys to selected beneficiaries during the event.
Additionally, two major urban redevelopment projects will be unveiled:
- The World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar.
- General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, which aim to benefit government employees by providing modern housing facilities.
Transforming Delhi’s Educational Landscape
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation for three transformative educational projects valued at over ₹600 crore, further solidifying Delhi’s position as a premier education destination. These include:
- A state-of-the-art academic block at the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi.
- Another academic block at the Western Campus in Dwarka.
- The Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, designed with cutting-edge infrastructure to foster academic excellence.
PM Modi commented, “Delhi has established itself as a hub for education, attracting students from across the country. These projects aim to strengthen academic infrastructure and provide world-class learning environments.”
Call for Alternative Naming of DU College
Meanwhile, the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has urged the Prime Minister to name the upcoming Delhi University college after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh instead of Veer Savarkar. A letter was also sent to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requesting immediate action.
The suggestion comes in honor of Manmohan Singh, who passed away recently at the age of 92. The veteran leader and former Prime Minister was widely regarded as a transformative figure in Indian politics.
Broader Development Initiatives
According to an official release, PM Modi will also inaugurate CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka, alongside other key development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and housing in the national capital.
These projects mark a significant step in improving both the living standards and educational infrastructure of Delhi, reinforcing the city’s role as a beacon of progress and development.
