Amit Shah Slams DMK Government, Accuses Leaders of Corruption

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu, accusing its leaders of corruption and misgovernance. Speaking at the inauguration of BJP district offices in Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai, and Ramanathapuram, Shah alleged that DMK leaders were embroiled in multiple corruption scandals.

"In cases of corruption, all the leaders of the DMK hold a master's degree. One is involved in a cash-for-jobs scam, another in money laundering and illegal sand mining, while a third faces charges related to disproportionate assets," Shah stated.

Dismissing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s claims that the state was being denied central funds, Shah countered, "There is no truth in Stalin’s statement. The Modi government has allocated ₹5 lakh crore to Tamil Nadu in the last five years. A comparison of funds disbursed under the UPA and NDA governments reveals that the real injustice happened during the UPA regime."

Taking a dig at the ruling party, Shah remarked that DMK seemed to have turned corruption into an open membership drive. "It sometimes feels as if DMK is recruiting all corrupt individuals into its ranks. MK Stalin and his son are raising multiple issues to divert attention from real concerns. Today, they are holding a meeting on delimitation, but Prime Minister Modi has already assured that no southern state will lose its parliamentary seats due to delimitation."

Looking ahead to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Shah asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would establish a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state. He pledged to put an end to nepotism and corruption while also taking action against those involved in "anti-India activities."

"Prepare for the formation of an NDA government in Tamil Nadu. In 2026, we will establish a new administration that will bring a fresh era for the state. Nepotism will be eliminated, corruption will be eradicated, and those engaging in anti-India activities will be dealt with," Shah declared.

The Union Home Minister was in Tamil Nadu to inaugurate BJP district offices in Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai, and Ramanathapuram as part of the party's expansion efforts in the state.
