Bengaluru, February 26: Reacting to the Karnataka Lokayukta Police’s clean chit to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment case, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday asserted that the investigation does not eliminate the possibility of irregularities in the allotment process.
"The MUDA scam and the Lokayukta’s findings do not rule out irregular allotment. The Lokayukta has merely concluded that the fault lies with the officers who committed illegal acts," Chandrasekhar stated.
He further alleged that Siddaramaiah and his family had benefited from the land allotment, which he claimed was unlawful. "The fact that the Chief Minister and his family received land through illegal means has been established. This is no longer a secret," he said.
Accusing the Congress party of being deeply involved in land scams, Chandrasekhar added, "It is widely known that the Congress is engaged in land grabbing. The Lokayukta has placed the blame on the officer responsible, who is now a Congress MP in Karnataka. This raises serious concerns about the party’s role in such illegal activities. A thorough investigation, either by a central agency or another independent body, is necessary to uncover the full extent of this scandal."
On February 20, Karnataka Lokayukta SP Udesh submitted an interim 8,000-page B Report in the MUDA scam case, which exonerated Siddaramaiah and his wife. Responding to this, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge defended the findings, stating, "The Lokayukta is an independent investigative agency. If they have given a clean chit to the Chief Minister, we welcome that. CM Siddaramaiah had already maintained that there was no scam and no involvement of any family members, which has now been proven by the investigation. We are not here to satisfy the BJP. The same Lokayukta had cleared BJP in multiple cases, and at that time, they had no objections."
The controversy surrounding the MUDA scam continues to fuel political tensions in Karnataka, with the BJP demanding further investigations into the alleged irregularities.
