Lucknow, UP Feb 13 (IANS) – In a significant development for India's aerospace and defense sector, Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Refurbishment (MRO) facility at HAL's Accessories Complex in Lucknow.
According to an official statement, the proposed facility will cater exclusively to the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk-1 of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The LCA Tejas, India's indigenously developed multi-role fighter aircraft, is being manufactured by HAL at its Bengaluru facility.
"This new MRO facility is an extension of our long-standing partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. We are fully committed to supporting the long-term maintenance of India's fighter aircraft fleet," said Ryan Hudson, Vice President, Aftermarket, Power and Controls, Collins Aerospace, in a statement.
As one of the world's leading aerospace and defense companies, RTX continues to play a vital role in advancing India's defense capabilities. The establishment of this MRO facility in Lucknow is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround time for repairs, and strengthen India’s self-reliance in the aerospace sector.
