Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, accused the Congress party of systematically undermining Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, asserting that the party's alleged disregard for the eminent social reformer is substantiated by historical records.
“We should not examine history merely because I bring it up, but rather to understand how the Congress treated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Their aversion to him is well-documented, and his words often antagonized the party,” Prime Minister Modi stated.
Highlighting Congress’ actions against Ambedkar, he further remarked, “The evidence is undeniable. Congress spared no effort in ensuring Babasaheb’s electoral defeat, as they could not tolerate his influence. They never considered him worthy of the Bharat Ratna.”
The Prime Minister made these remarks during his response to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address in the Rajya Sabha.
‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ Beyond Congress’ Ideology: PM Modi
Continuing his critique, Prime Minister Modi asserted that the Congress party is incapable of embracing the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (development for all), as it contradicts their political ethos.
“We advocate inclusive development, ensuring that every citizen is part of the nation’s progress. It is beyond my understanding why this concept poses a challenge to them. The people of India have entrusted us with this responsibility because of our commitment to this vision,” he remarked.
He further contended that expecting Congress to support inclusive development is a "mistake", as it does not align with the party’s political framework. “Congress operates on a model of politics built on dynastic rule, appeasement, and misinformation. When these elements form the foundation, the idea of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ becomes unattainable for them,” he asserted.
Elaborating on his stance, the Prime Minister accused Congress of prioritizing family interests over national progress. “Congress has crafted a political approach where dynasty and falsehoods are intertwined. Their policies, strategies, rhetoric, and actions all revolve around this singular focus,” he said.
