New Delhi [India], February 8 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi for delivering a decisive mandate in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi Assembly elections.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister emphasized the triumph of development and good governance, stating, "Jana Shakti is paramount! Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this resounding and historic mandate to @BJP4India. We are humbled and honored to receive these blessings. It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for the people, and ensuring that Delhi plays a pivotal role in building a Viksit Bharat."
PM Modi reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to the progress of Delhi, assuring citizens that the party would work diligently to enhance infrastructure, governance, and overall well-being in the national capital.
Acknowledging the efforts of BJP workers, he further stated, "I am so proud of each and every @BJP4India Karyakarta, who has worked very hard, leading to this outstanding result. We will work even more vigorously and serve the wonderful people of Delhi."
Earlier in the day, as vote counting progressed, state BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva credited the party’s lead to the faith the people of Delhi have in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He also announced that PM Modi would visit the BJP headquarters later in the evening to address party workers.
Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly took place on February 5, registering a voter turnout of 60.54%. The BJP’s election campaign, spearheaded by PM Modi, had focused on key issues, including the alleged pollution in the Yamuna River and the controversy surrounding the renovation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
During the campaign, PM Modi had sharply criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), referring to Kejriwal’s governance as "Aapda" (disaster) and his residence as "Sheesh Mahal" (glass palace) to underscore allegations of misgovernance and extravagance.
With the BJP securing a decisive mandate, the focus now shifts to the party’s governance strategy for Delhi and the fulfillment of its electoral promises.
