Donald Trump has shared a video on his social media platform Truth Social that hints at the future of the Gaza Strip.
An artificial intelligence (AI)-developed video depicting the war-torn Gaza Strip being rebuilt into a seaside resort, complete with a towering gold statue of himself, was posted on US President Donald Trump’s official social media accounts.
The video begins with masked, gun-toting men and young children picking up debris from the devastated city. The 35-second AI-generated video clip shows Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping cocktails and lounging half-naked by a pool.
Cranes and construction work are shown, and eventually, palm trees and full-scale skyscrapers emerge, along with yachts anchored in the bay. Gold Trump statues and shops selling his effigies line the streets. A man who looks like Elon Musk is seen eating bread and hummus on the beach. Bearded, long-haired belly dancers dance on the beach. Trump, dressed in a full suit, is seen dancing with another belly dancer inside the hall and looking at them.
The video, posted on Tuesday evening, has also been criticized for insulting the war-torn Gazans. Trump floated the idea of the United States taking control of Gaza and relocating the Palestinian population accordingly - a proposal that was condemned globally.
He later appeared to soften his plan, saying he had only recommended the idea, and it was acknowledged that leaders in Jordan and Egypt, the proposed resettlement sites for Gaza residents, had rejected any attempt to move Palestinians against their will.
