New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that his tenure had "ruined" the national capital.
Speaking exclusively to News18 India, Gupta questioned whether Punjab would meet a similar fate under Kejriwal’s leadership.
"He (Arvind Kejriwal) has ruined Delhi, and now it’s uncertain whether Punjab will be next," she stated.
Gupta also took aim at Kejriwal’s official residence at 6, Flag Staff Road, popularly referred to as the "Sheesh Mahal," where the former CM allegedly spent Rs 1 lakh on a single toilet pot using public funds. She labeled the residence a “white elephant,” asserting that neither could AAP maintain it nor sell it.
Her remarks come just a day after she presented the Delhi Budget for FY 2025-26, which features an outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore—a 31.5% increase from the previous year. Calling it a “historic Budget”, Gupta underscored that the era of “corruption and inefficiency” was over, with the government doubling capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore.
The Budget prioritizes ten key sectors, including electricity, roads, water, and connectivity, with Rs 1,000 crore allocated for enhanced transport links within the Delhi-NCR region.
