Addressing the Indian community in Dublin on Friday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke at length on a range of topics, from the Chinese aggression in the immediate aftermath of Covid to India's technological advancements.

"As someone who travels around India, goes to universities, and goes to professional meetings, I welcome this can-do attitude in the youth," Jaishankar added, adding that this is why India can showcase any innovation-related program or invention to the world, and that the contributions made by the diaspora to the country's excellent growth are invaluable.

Talking about India's progress in technology, he said that India will be the first to take the lead in 6G technology. "Telecom is very crucial for our survival today. We got 2G, 3G, 4G technology from Europe and China. But today, our 5G technology is the result of the hard work of a group of young people in India," Jaishankar said.

India is actually the fastest-growing country in the world for 5G. He said that when it comes to 6G, he is confident that we Indians will be among the early adopters, not the laggards.

"Immediately after COVID, the country strongly faced the challenge posed by China on our borders and what would have been the situation in the past, but today we have trusted our army and stood firm in the Prime Minister's stance and protected the pride of our country," Jaishankar added.

He also gave a clear answer to the question of whether there will be direct flights from India to Ireland, He said that many private Indian companies are waiting for quality, large aircraft to operate international services, and new services may emerge as soon as the aircraft become available.
