Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – A chilling case has emerged from Meerut, where a woman and her lover have been arrested for the gruesome murder of her husband. The victim’s dismembered body was discovered sealed inside a plastic drum filled with cement, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
Discovery of the Crime
The incident occurred in Indira Nagar, Brahmpuri, where Saurabh Rajput (29), an officer in the Merchant Navy, was murdered nearly 15 days ago. The crime came to light when Muskan (27), the victim’s wife, returned from a trip to Shimla with her lover, Sahil Shukla (25), and informed her mother about her husband’s disappearance. Suspicious, the family alerted the police, leading to an investigation and subsequent arrests.
Due to the cement-filled drum, authorities initially faced challenges in retrieving the body. However, forensic teams have since recovered the remains, which have been sent for post-mortem examination.
A Marriage Torn Apart
According to reports, Saurabh and Muskan had a love marriage in 2016, despite opposition from their families. The couple lived separately in a rented house in Indira Nagar, while Saurabh’s parents and brother resided in Brahmpuri. They have a six-year-old daughter, currently studying in the second grade.
The Illicit Affair and Murder Plot
Investigations revealed that Muskan’s extramarital relationship with Sahil began in 2019. The affair led to frequent disputes between the couple, escalating tensions in their marriage.
On February 24, Saurabh returned home from London to celebrate Muskan’s birthday on February 25. However, he had already become suspicious of her relationship with Sahil. On the night of March 4, Muskan allegedly laced Saurabh’s food with sedatives before calling Sahil over. Together, they stabbed him to death, dismembered the body, and concealed the remains in a cement-filled plastic drum in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Authorities launched an inquiry after Saurabh was reported missing. Upon questioning, Muskan and Sahil confessed to the crime, leading to their immediate arrest. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family.
The accused are currently in police custody as further investigations continue.
