PM Modi Inaugurates ₹2,587 Crore Development Projects in Silvassa, Launches Key Welfare Initiatives

 Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu), March 7 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth ₹2,587 crore in Silvassa, aiming to enhance infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunities in the Union Territory.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated Phase I of the NAMO Hospital, a 450-bed multi-specialty healthcare facility constructed at a cost of over ₹460 crore. This state-of-the-art hospital is expected to strengthen healthcare services in the region, particularly benefiting tribal communities.

During the event, UT Administrator Praful K. Patel felicitated PM Modi, marking the launch of multiple development projects, including village roads, educational institutions, healthcare centers, Panchayat and administrative buildings, Anganwadi centers, and water supply and sewage infrastructure. These initiatives are designed to boost connectivity, drive industrial growth, promote tourism, create employment, and improve public welfare in the region.

Rozgar Mela and Welfare Schemes for Marginalized Communities

As part of his commitment to employment generation, the Prime Minister distributed appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela and extended benefits to beneficiaries of key government welfare schemes, including:

  • PM Awas Yojana-Urban (affordable housing)

  • Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana, which aims to empower SC, ST, OBC, and minority women by establishing small dairy farms and promoting economic independence

  • Sylvan Didi Scheme, an initiative to support women street vendors by providing aesthetically designed carts, co-funded by the PM SVANidhi scheme

PM Modi’s Visit to Gujarat: Focus on Food Security & Livelihoods

Later in the day, PM Modi will travel to Surat, where he is scheduled to launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign at 5 PM. Under this program, benefits under the National Food Security Act will be disbursed to approximately 2.3 lakh beneficiaries.

On March 8, the Prime Minister will visit Navsari, where he will interact with Lakhpati Didis and launch various welfare schemes at a public event.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate two major Gujarat government initiatives aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods:

  • G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods): A financial assistance and entrepreneurial training program for Self-Help Group (SHG) women in two Aspirational districts and thirteen Aspirational Blocks of Gujarat

  • G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income): A scheme to support startups and entrepreneurs working on solutions for rural economic development

With a strong focus on development, employment generation, and rural empowerment, PM Modi’s visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, particularly in tribal and underprivileged communities across Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Gujarat.
