Political Turmoil in Haryana as Youth Congress Leader Found Dead

A major political controversy has erupted in Haryana following the discovery of the body of a woman Congress worker near the Sampla Bus Stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway. The incident coincides with the state's municipal elections, further intensifying the political landscape.

The deceased has been identified as Himani Narwal, an office-bearer of the Youth Congress in Rohtak, a constituency known as the stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Hooda stated on social media platform X:

“The news of the barbaric murder of active Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak is extremely saddening and shocking. I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family. The manner in which her body was found in a suitcase is appalling and reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.”

Circumstances of the Incident

Narwal’s body was discovered on Friday inside a large blue suitcase near the Sampla Bus Stand. Authorities were alerted, and the case was reported to the Sampla police station. Initial reports indicate that she had a scarf wrapped around her neck and mehendi on her hands, raising further concerns about the nature of the crime.

Who Was Himani Narwal?

Himani Narwal hailed from Kathura village in Sonepat and was an active Congress worker. According to reports, she participated in various political events, including those with Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda. She was widely recognized for her association with Haryanvi folk performances at Congress rallies and social gatherings.

Her X profile identified her as the Indian Youth Congress Vice President. Former Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV recalled her contributions, stating:

“During my tenure in the Youth Congress, my younger sister @himani_narwal served as the District Vice President of Rohtak Rural. Whether it was the Bharat Jodo Yatra or any organizational program, she fulfilled her responsibilities with dedication.”

Narwal had also accompanied Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and was actively involved in the Haryana Assembly election campaign alongside Bhupinder Hooda and Deepender Hooda.

Her untimely demise has not only sparked political outcry but has also raised serious concerns regarding women’s safety and law enforcement in the state. Authorities have launched an investigation, and further details are awaited.
