Pune, March 22: A 38-year-old IT engineer has been arrested for allegedly murdering his three-year-old son following a domestic dispute with his wife, Pune police confirmed. The accused, identified as Madhav Sadhurao Tiketi, a resident of Ratan Prestige in Chandan Nagar, has been charged with murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the police, Tiketi had been unemployed for the past few months, which had led to ongoing tensions at home. On Thursday, an argument escalated between him and his wife, after which he left the house with their son, Himmat Madhav Tiketi, and did not return. His wife later approached the police to file a missing person’s report.
During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed that Tiketi was seen leaving home with his son but later returned alone. Further inquiries revealed that he had purchased a knife and a blade from a shop before heading to a secluded area, where he allegedly slit his son’s throat and disposed of the body in nearby bushes.
Authorities later discovered Tiketi in an intoxicated state at a hotel, and upon further investigation, they recovered the child's body. He has been booked under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
