New Delhi, April 12, 2025 - A severe dust storm swept through Delhi and its surrounding regions on Friday evening, significantly disrupting flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and stranding hundreds of passengers due to extensive delays in flight departures.
According to reports, by Saturday morning, over 50 domestic flights at IGI Airport faced delays, approximately 25 were diverted from their intended destinations, and seven were cancelled as a consequence of the adverse weather conditions. An official provided insights to news agency ANI, stating, “After the dust storm, many flights were diverted and cancelled, and this caused inconvenience to passengers waiting for their flights at Delhi airport. The diverted flight took time to reach Delhi, and this led to a rush at the airport.”
