Key Forensic Evidence Fails to Link Accused to Saif Ali Khan's Apartment in Stabbing Case: Chargesheet Reveals

In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the stabbing incident involving actor Saif Ali Khan, the chargesheet filed in the case reveals that crucial fingerprint evidence collected from the actor’s Mumbai residence does not match that of the accused, Shariful Islam.

According to forensic analysis conducted by the State CID’s Fingerprint Bureau, nearly 20 samples were lifted from various surfaces inside the flat. Of these, 19 did not correspond with the fingerprints of the accused. The forensic team specifically noted that prints recovered from the black bathroom door, the sliding bedroom door, and the cupboard door showed no match with Islam’s fingerprints.

The only fingerprint linking the accused to the premises was found on the eighth floor of the building—outside the actor’s apartment. This lone match, investigators say, may not be sufficient to establish direct involvement.

Mumbai Police officials, while acknowledging the forensic findings, caution that fingerprint evidence is not infallible. "The probability of obtaining a conclusive fingerprint match is low, particularly in high-traffic environments where multiple individuals may come into contact with the same surfaces," a senior officer noted. “This is why fingerprint evidence is rarely considered standalone proof of presence or action.”

The findings raise new questions about the sequence of events leading up to the incident and may influence the legal strategy as the case proceeds. Authorities continue to rely on a combination of forensic data, witness testimonies, and digital evidence to build a comprehensive account of the crime.
