In a shocking incident in the early hours of Saturday, Ricky Rai, son of the late gangster and Jaya Karnataka founder Muthappa Rai, was reportedly shot at by unidentified assailants near his residence in Bidadi, located in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district, according to official sources.
Ramanagara Superintendent of Police, Srinivas Gowda, confirmed that Ricky Rai is receiving medical treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. The attack occurred around 1:30 a.m., when Rai was seated in the rear of a vehicle alongside his gunman. A bullet penetrated the driver’s seat, wounding both the driver and Rai.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. Police are actively reviewing CCTV footage and monitoring road activity in the vicinity of the crime scene. Plans are also underway to question Rai’s gunman and close associates to gather further leads, officials stated.
Muthappa Rai, a towering figure in Bengaluru’s underworld, was once regarded as one of the city’s most influential individuals before publicly distancing himself from his criminal past. His death in 2020 marked the end of an era, but this violent attack on his son has reignited discussions about his enduring legacy in Karnataka’s organized crime history.
The investigation remains ongoing, with law enforcement committed to uncovering the motives and circumstances behind this brazen assault. Further updates will be provided as new developments emerge
