Woman Seriously Injured in Alleged Knife Attack in Co Wexford Home

Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford – Gardaí are questioning a man in his early 20s following a violent knife attack that left a woman in her late 50s with serious injuries in her home early Friday morning, April 18, 2025.


The incident occurred around 7am in a residential estate in Rosslare Harbour. Sources report that the woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times, sustaining injuries to her neck, head, and body. The attack reportedly ceased when a relative of the victim interrupted the assailant, prompting him to flee the scene.

Gardaí responded swiftly, swarming the estate and launching a major search operation. The injured woman was rushed to Wexford General Hospital, where she was described as seriously ill on Friday afternoon. Several hours later, a suspect was arrested approximately one kilometre from the scene while walking on a road. A suspected weapon was also recovered during a follow-up operation.

The suspect, who is known to the victim, was taken to Wexford Garda Station for questioning on suspicion of serious assault. He can be detained for up to 24 hours.

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the arrest, stating: “Gardaí attended the scene of an incident of assault that occurred in Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford this morning, Friday 18th April, at approximately 7am. A woman in her 50s was conveyed to hospital with injuries which are understood to be serious. A male in his 20s has been arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co. Wexford. Investigations are ongoing.”
