Kozhikode, — In a significant move to support those affected by the recent landslide in the Mundakkai-Chooralmala region, the Kerala State Government has announced an extended financial relief package for victims whose livelihoods have been disrupted by the disaster.
Revenue Minister K. Rajan confirmed that the financial assistance will be disbursed over a nine-month period. As per the relief scheme, two members of each affected family who have lost their means of income will receive ₹300 per month. Additionally, families with bedridden individuals will be eligible for the same monthly assistance per person.
“The government is committed to ensuring continued support for those who have lost their livelihood due to this calamity,” Minister Rajan said. He added that the administration has also initiated measures to provide essential commodities to affected families. A coupon worth ₹1,000 for the purchase of essential items is being distributed through the district administration.
According to a government order issued on April 7, beneficiaries must submit an affidavit declaring the absence of any alternative source of income to be eligible for assistance. The disbursal of funds will be processed only after verification of this declaration.
The affidavit submission schedule has been organized to streamline the process:
-
First list beneficiaries may submit their affidavits on April 19, between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
-
Phase II A and Phase II B beneficiaries can submit their affidavits on the same day, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
-
Recipients of prior aid will be allowed to submit affidavits beginning April 21, from 9:30 AM onwards.
The state government continues to coordinate closely with the district administration to ensure that all eligible families receive timely and adequate assistance as part of its broader disaster rehabilitation initiative.
