New Delhi, May 23 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that Pakistan has been “completely exposed” on the global stage for its sustained role in sponsoring cross-border terrorism, and credited the success of Operation Sindoor as a decisive and proportionate response to recent provocations.
Delivering the keynote address at the Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony during the Rustamji Memorial Lecture, Shah said the military operation earlier this month exemplified India’s new strategic doctrine—a blend of political resolve, actionable intelligence, and military precision.
“Operation Sindoor is a result of the Prime Minister’s strong political will, the precision of our intelligence agencies, and the exemplary lethality demonstrated by our armed forces,” Shah said. “When all three come together, we deliver decisive action.”
The Home Minister condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, in which civilians were targeted based on their religion. “Pakistan-sponsored terrorists executed innocent civilians in front of their families. This kind of barbarism demanded a response, and India responded,” he said.
Detailing the outcome of Operation Sindoor, Shah revealed that nine terrorist camps were eliminated within minutes of the operation’s launch, including two major headquarters. He clarified that Indian forces exercised restraint and ensured no Pakistani military or airbase was targeted. “We acted strictly against terror infrastructure—those responsible for crimes on Indian soil,” he stressed.
He added that while India’s response was confined to terror camps, Pakistan misconstrued it as an attack and retaliated against Indian military and civilian targets. “Our forces responded with strength, and the world took note. Today, Pakistan stands entirely exposed. The terrorism India faces is undeniably Pakistan-sponsored,” Shah declared.
The Home Minister also cited evidence linking the Pakistani military establishment to terror networks, noting that senior army officers were seen attending and participating in funerals of slain terrorist commanders. “The world witnessed Pakistani military officials carrying coffins of proscribed terrorists. This alone speaks volumes about their direct complicity,” he said.
Paying tribute to the BSF, Shah saluted over 2,000 personnel who have laid down their lives since the force’s inception in 1965. “On behalf of a grateful nation, I offer my deepest respects to those who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The BSF is a shining example of patriotism and resilience.”
He further highlighted the BSF’s critical role during the 1971 war, reminding Bangladesh of the force’s instrumental contribution to its independence. “That chapter of history must never be forgotten,” Shah said.
His remarks come amid heightened national security concerns and reinforce India’s evolving doctrine of calibrated and resolute counterterrorism operations.
