Beijing, July 15 — External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday, conveying greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ministerial summit.
During the high-level interaction, Dr. Jaishankar apprised President Xi of recent developments in India-China relations, stressing the significance of sustained leadership-level engagement in steering the future of bilateral ties.
The meeting follows Jaishankar's discussions with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng a day earlier. Both leaders reiterated the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation and deepening strategic communication, according to Chinese state media outlet Xinhua.
Vice President Han noted that the meeting between President Xi and Prime Minister Modi in Kazan last October marked a new starting point in the trajectory of China-India relations, offering an opportunity to reinvigorate dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.
