PM Modi Presents Ram Mandir Replica and Sarayu Water to Trinidad & Tobago, Honours Diaspora's Devotion

During his two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the enduring cultural and spiritual ties between India and the Caribbean nation by presenting a replica of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and water from the sacred Sarayu River.

Addressing a gathering of over 4,000 members of the Indian diaspora, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the symbolic significance of his gesture, recalling the Caribbean Indian community’s heartfelt contributions to the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “I am deeply moved by your unwavering devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram,” he said. “We remember how you sent sacred water and Shilas for the Ram Mandir. Today, I have brought with me, with equal reverence, a replica of the temple and water from the Sarayu River.”

Quoting from the Ramcharitmanas, Modi spoke of Ayodhya's spiritual magnificence and noted the global celebration of Ram Lalla’s return after five centuries. “The holy city of Lord Ram is so beautiful that its glory is praised across the world,” he said, acknowledging the emotional connection of the diaspora to the historic temple.

The event was also attended by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, along with several cabinet ministers and members of parliament. In a significant gesture of bilateral goodwill, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar announced that Trinidad and Tobago would confer its highest civilian honour — The Order of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago — upon Prime Minister Modi.

Expressing his gratitude, Prime Minister Modi later took to social media to share the moment. “At the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, I presented a replica of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, along with holy water from the Sarayu River and from the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj,” he wrote on X. “These offerings symbolise the deep cultural and spiritual bonds between India and Trinidad & Tobago.”

The visit marked a reaffirmation of shared heritage and mutual respect, underlining the strength of people-to-people connections that transcend geography and time.
